Darrin Verhagen

Darrin Verhagen is a composer currently dividing his time between lecturing in Sound Design at RMIT University, running the Dorobo record label, and working as a freelance composer. His backcatalog of international releases traverse classical, industrial, electroacoustic, lowercase, noise and techno styles.

His dance soundtrack credits have included Chunky Move’s Singularity, Hydra, and Closer, Australian Dance Theatre’s Devolution, Held, Nothing and Transcriptions, and Lucy Guerin’s On/Love Me, Wilt and Zero. He has written extensively for Playbox/Malthouse Theatre, and his Melbourne Theatre Company works have included Ghost Writer, A Single Act and Memory of Water (for which he received a Greenroom award).

Darrin’s latest CD releases have been Shinjuku Thief’s Devolution, Sacred Fury, the computer game score d/classified and the

Black | Mass trilogy Black Ice, Black Frost, and Matte Black.

His recent tours have included performances at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Transmediale Berlin, and Shinjuku Thief Old Europe live (as part of the Cold Meat Industry Europe Festival).
