Luke George


Luke is co-director and choreographer of Stompin, a dance company based in Tasmania where he creates large scale site-specific performance events with young people.  He has also choreographed for Arena Theatre Co and Back to Back Theatre Co.  Luke has performed with Chunky Move throughout Australia, Britain, Europe and Asia since 1999.  He has also danced for choreographers Philip Adams, Stephanie Lake, Jo Lloyd, Shelley Lassica and Itoh Kim (Tokyo). 

Luke was co-founder/director and choreographer of the Trike dance project which in 1999 received the Melbourne Festival Choice Award and Fringe Movement Award.  In 2002, he was nominated for Best Ensemble Green Room Award with the company for Chunky Move’s Wanted: ballet for a contemporary democracy.  Luke is recognised for his significant contribution to the Tasmanian community and in 2003 he was a nominated finalist for the Tasmanian Southern Cross Young Achievers Awards.  In 2005, Luke is a recipient of an Asialink Performing Arts Residency to Tokyo where he will choreograph and perform a new dance work with cutting edge Japanese artists.
