Lisa Griffiths


Lisa graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with her Associate Degree in Dance performance, followed by a degree in Dance from the Performing Arts Centre of Adelaide. Her first work was with Darc Swan, a schools-touring dance company in Queensland.

She then joined Gideon Oberzanek’s Chunky Move, where she toured nationally and internationally.

She formed her own dance group with Kirsty McCracken, performing contemporary dance for the club scene in Brisbane and Sydney, culminating in two commissioned works for The Studio, Opera House Sydney in 2002.

Between company performances she performed solo at Woodford Music Festival, Queensland to the music of The Bird; guested for Tasdance,Tasmainia; learnt sculpting; and sang new compositions for her composer brother.
She also tried her hand at acting, taking a cameo part in the Sci-fi series, Farscape; a Telstra ad; had a contract with TV1, foxtel for modeling and commercials,and a part in a short film, The Visitor.Lisa teaches whenever possible, at Adelaide’s CPA and Sydney Dance Studios.

In 2001 she was movement director for the play Shattered Jade, Seymour Centre, Sydney. She rejoined Tasdance for the 2002 Ripple Effect, 21st birthday festival, and the Robyn Archer 2003 Ten Days on the Island Festival, performing a newly commissioned work by Natalie Weir. In between Lisa made two dance films, When There’s Only with choreographer Amanda Phillips (UK based) in Adelaide, and Niche, with Sue Healey in Sydney.

For Sue Healey, Lisa joined a company of five skilled artists who performed Fine Line Terrain, Bangarra Theatre, Sydney, 2003. Lisa will return to Sydney to create a new film with Sue Healey in June 03, before traveling to Zurich to accept an invitation to be one of twenty international dancers for the SiWic dance project, 2003. She must return to Sydney to rejoin Sue Healey’s company to tour New Zealand in October, 2003.
