Benjamin Hancock
Benjamin is a Melbourne-based dancer who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) with a Bachelor of Dance in 2008 and was the recipient of the inaugural choreographic award in his final year.
As a performer, he has worked with a wide range of artists including Chunky Move, Cobie Orger, Francis Rings, Katie Noonan & The Captains, Lucy Guerin Inc, Martin del Amo, Narelle Benjamin, Sue Healey, and Supple Fox.
Recent Performance credits include Assembly (Chunky Move - Melbourne International Arts Festival and Sydney Festival) and Overboard 2 The Love Birds (Mona Foma Festival 2012)
Choreographic credits include Stain a solo work presented at Faux Mo, Mona Foma Festival 2012 and the inaugural fresh produce markets on the roof of the Mona Galley Hobart and Partially Here a solo presented at Clean Socks in San Francisco, USA. Benjamin also had the opportunity to choreograph on the Victorian College of the Arts 2nd year dance students; More Than Matter was presented as part of the end of year VCA dance program 2011.
Costume Design credits include: It Sounds Silly, Chunky Move’s first youth project in collaboration with Signal.
Film credits include: Rising Below – Dirty Three, Love Letter – Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes 2012, Little Ticket - Brous 2011. Birth and Animalia fashion films for the design label Trimapee 2010-11.
Benjamin is also an Artistic Associate and founding member of 2ndToe Dance Collective with whom he has been working with since 2009.
