James Shannon

James Shannon began training dance in Canberra. He graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006. After graduating, James joined Tasdance, joining performances choreographed by Raewyn Hill, Fiona Reilly, Shaun Parker, Anna Smith, Natalie Cursio, Natalie Weir and Kate Denborough and touring nationally and internationally.

James has toured and performed for Chunky Move in Mortal Engine and Assembly by Gideon Obarzanek and also in Black Marrow choreographed by Erna Ómarsdóttir (Iceland) and Damien Jalet (Belgium), commissioned by Chunky Move 2009.

James’ other credits include The Production Company’s Chess, Opera Australia’s Bliss, Lucy Guerin Inc's Untrained, Human Interest Story and most recently collaborated on their new work Weather. He is a recipient of the Tasmanian Minister of Youth Arts Award for Professional Development, and also the Cultural Development Grant.
