Ritual of the Rehearsal
When rehearsals start at Chunky Move the first few weeks can be tough and painful for the dancers.

Rehearsals for Wanted started eight weeks prior to the opening night in Melbourne. Days are long for the dancers; 9.30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.
It can get tense, explains company coordinator David Tyndall, but it's all very humourous at times too.

After receiving the survey report choreographer Gideon Obarzanek set out to create Australia's most wanted dance work.
Confronted by the results and the challenge of creating a dance work for contemporary democracy, Obarzanek and the dancers began to shape the performance.

Behind the Scenes
Chunky Move, in collaboration with Ausdance, asked over 2800 members of the dance attending public what they prefer to see in a dance work. Australians were also asked what they wanted in sound and stage design.

The low audience rating for electronic music meant that techno producer Luke Smiles, was forced to compose a contemporary classical piece for the most wanted dance work.

A dymanic crew of set designers, riggers, costume designers and sound engineers were called upon to create Australia's Most Wanted dance work. In the meantime, the small, hard-working team at Chunky Move were busy managing the marketing and logistics that make the show a success.

This site is an online work about the Chunky Move performance of Wanted, which premiered in Melbourne in May:02.
In keeping with the underlying themes of Wanted, Chunky File #2 set out to ask the audience what they most wanted on a web site about the show.
People were asked to choose their favourite three features out a total of nine.
